Day 9–Mumbai (17th Dec)

First morning in Mumbai, it was around 9:30 when we got up. Looking out the windows of our room, was greeted with the Juhu Beach sights – nice! Checked the kids, still asleep, all recovering from the great nite we had yesterday. Am glad I arranged for interconnecting rooms, it did not feel too crowded in one room, and neither did it feel very segregated.

All headed down to breakfast around 10:30am, we just managed to get the last 5 minutes of the buffet, Novotel had a good spread of indian and continental varieties, Pooja was happy finding Pancakes, I settled for eggs, Nita and Neha could not resist the traditional Indian breakky. During breakfast, I could feel a bad sore throat brewing in me – not a good sign, hit the medical kit I had brought along and taking in pills that could help with this!

Around 11:30am, we made our way to the Friendship store in Santa Cruz. The start of ladies shopping! We ended up in that one shop for over 4 hours! During that time, we had the best grilled sandwiches and the best teas served to us.

Highly Recommended: there is a great Sandwich place right outside Friendship store that sells that best grilled sandwiches, it is called “Sandwichzaa”, try the grilled varieties, the most amazing sandwiches you would have tried.

6 years back, Pooja and Neha were too young to be bothered with shopping for Indian outfits, this time around it was different, they were both very much interested and always wanting to try on different styles.

Next was the Ashiwarya saree place and more shopping there.

It was around 8pm we returned to the hotel. Girls were too tired to be going out again, decided to eat at the Asian restaurant in Novotel. My throat was already killing me, was finding it hard to swallow any solids, even water was hurting! Ordered some soup for myself, Nita and the girls ordered some Dim Sums and stir frys. Whilst the food was very good, service was very slow.

We all hit our room after diner, Neha and Pooja were super happy to have their own room and could stay up. My throat was  getting worse and reminded me of the problems I had 6 years back, maybe I was allergic to India. Taking on more tablets and throat sprays, hoping this would relieve it.
