Day 26 Mumbai 27th Dec

Second morning in Mumbai, got a surprise – Nita’s foi & fua (Arjun lal) had arrived early morning and checked in to the room next door. At around 9 am, when placing our laundry clothes out in the corridor, foi came out of the room next door – they had both showered and ready to hit the road – whilst we were still all in our PJs taking it easy. (I would have been soooo jet lagged if I had come in around 3 am!!)
Met them for breakfast around 10:30 @ the Gulistan lounge. They were in Mumbai with no major plans and joined us in our Mumbai explorations.

First stop was to be Sidhi Vinayak Mandir – problem was, we were 6 people, and Mumbai taxis are not known for their size – they are small, had to cram in somehow, shared the kids between front and rear seats – still a squeeze but manageable.

Being a tuesday, Sidhi Vinayak Mandir was super busy. Queues of people were being quickly ushered around the main mandir, the darshan only lasted for around 10 – 20 seconds at most.
Apparently Amitabh Bachan visits this mandir every tuesday around 5 am!

DSC02390

Next stop was the expanding Pheonix Mall in lower Parel. Along the way there spotted an Audi R8!
DSC02393

First stop in there – McDonalds, had to fill up Neha and Pooja – the standard Nuggets and fries.
Following that, we headed to the Chaat corner in the open air centre court – kids were busy in the middle with all the Disney activities (Hong Kong Disney was running a promo and lots of free activities were taking place there – perfect timing! Kids were loving it).

DSC02398DSC02404
(Kids in the Cinderalla magical pumpkin carriage, Nita, foi & fua – Chaat time)

Had a variety of Chaats, they were delicious, I also ordered some Pani Puree – this is one place where I know they use CLEAN water.

They all then headed in the malls for some window shopping, I was more than happy to stay with the kids – they were having a good time, did not want to spoil that. Pooja and Neha got free hair braiding there…

DSC02416DSC02422
(kids getting the complimentary hair braiding)

Nita, and her foi/fua came out of the mall soon after and were raving about how good the new mall was looking, whilst they kept watch on the kids, I quickly ducked in for a view of the mall – it was very impressive and filled with super expensive designer labels.

DSC02427
(in High Street Phoenix Mall)

By around 2pm, I think foi/fua were a bit tired, decided to head back to the hotel. Finding a taxi was another matter, we were on the wrong side of the road – mumbai taxi drivers do not like to make u-turns, so had to cross the busy street, Nita and I were fine (had already done this a few times), however foi was a bit nervous, got Nita to hold her and guide her thru. Basically walk when a small gap is spotted – and holding out your other hand indicating to the oncoming cars to stop!! and it works! Made is safely across and in no time, we were crammed in another taxi headed back to Gulistan. Agreed to restart the exploration around 5pm.

In the room, we had nothing much to do, Nita wanted to get a hair wash done for her and the girls, found a nearby saloon and all headed there. Was a very nice saloon, they all got their washes and drys, and the best part – only cost 600/rs total = $12 AUD!! for 3 people, just loving it. Pooja and Neha were loving the pampering they were getting.
DSC02429
(Pooja showing off her blow dried hair @ Kush’s Saloon – behind Gulistan)

Got back to the hotel in time, foi and fua were all ready to go, quickly freshened up and all headed down to catch another taxi to Marine Drive – foi had made me the tour guide and wanted me to show them around. Weather was very pleasant @ Marine drive and with the beautiful sunset it was time to takes lots of pics!!

DSC02434DSC02436DSC02438DSC02444

DSC02446DSC02447

Whilst taking all those pics, a young boy came around offering boot polish, fua and I went for that and sat around whilst he went about polishing – this was the first time my white shoes were being cleaned since I bought them!

DSC02451DSC02453
(boot polish time!)

Strolled along the seawalk till we reached the horse carriages. Neha wanted to do this again and since we wanted to go towards Colaba, negotiated a fare to take the carriage from Nariman Point to Colaba.
Foi wanted another carriage – complaining the smell was nasty, quickly realised it was not the carriage, rather the location, once the carriage moved, the horse poo smell was gone!

DSC02463
(horse carriage from Nariman Point to Gateway of India)

Carriage ride was nice, had a very leisurely ride. Kids were both loving it.
Reached Gateway of India in around 15 minutes. Whilst there, visited Taj Hotel, very impressive hotel, but even more impressive were the toilets! There is a full time attendant in there, who turned on the tap and squeezed the soap pump for me – so no touching any sink stuff… next the attendant got a nice clean hand towel – what service!!

From there on we walked around the place, and came to a side street (begin Taj) where lots of people had gathered around BBQ stalls – it was Bademiyan – a very famous Colaba Kebab venue. Bhavik (legend) had eaten here lots and had raved about it – so had to give it a shot
DSC02466

Strange it was – there was not really a covered / closed off area, it was just a line of street side tables with lots of waiters serving all – which was great for tonight, no rain and nice-n-cool. We ordered a few mutton, chicken kebabs, tandoori pieces, along with Butter chicken and rumali roti for Kids. Since this place had no Beers, fua and I headed to a Bar directly across Bademiya for a Beer – hopefully we would be back before the food arrived. Ordered Kingfisher mild, not game enough to go for the strong stuff! Got a call from Nita soon after advising food was already served – damn it arrived too quick, finished off our beers and back to our street table. Food was nice, however the kebabs had gone cold, so we ordered more kebabs, these tasted soo nice -straight from the HAGRI! Kids both enjoyed the Butter chicken – apparently one of the best!
What impressed me was the service and efficiency – not sure how they managed to track orders from tables lined across both sides of a street and then get the orders out very quickly with no errors.
They also had a couple of guys with a Water jug and basin, mobile hand washes – they came over to each person and allowed you to wash your hands nicely – service! Nita was not the feeling the best – started to have stomach cramps – oh oh, however insisted on carrying on the nights fun

DSC02469DSC02470
(Bademiya, BBQ station, and roti tava)

Next stop was Ruby Tuesday (Nariman Point), again, however this was for foi/fua to try out and the kids wanted it as well. Ordered a “Tall Cake” and a “Blondie” – both were very nice – forgot to take pics of the blondie, it was good!

Took a taxi back to Gulistan. Nita’s condition had worsened – loaded her with all sorts of medication, was a long night for Nita. Tomorrow we were going to meet Chandu kaka’s family in KALYAN (it is a place on the outskirts of Mumbai).

Day 25 Mumbai 26th Dec

First day in Mumbai, we woke up around 10 am – very late, by the time we had shower and were out of the room, it was close to 11:30 am. Took a taxi to Cafe Mocha @ Nariman Point. Mumbai now seems soo much cleaner than what it was 5 yrs back. Found the place fine. Luckily they had all day breakfast, ordered pancakes, waffles, and an omelette. Coffees were great there, however the service was very slow.

DSC02305

Got out of there, around 1pm, was getting a bit hot outside, decided to head to the nearby INOX cinemas, wanted to watch Don 2 – on our last trip 5 years back, we watched Don (it had only just got released then), this time around Don 2 got released – what coincidence!! Got tickets to the 1:45 session, headed up to the Spoon Mega Food Court in the same complex – what great variety and a unique payment system – get a swipe card at the front desk and load it with any amount, then order from anywhere in the food court, the bill gets deducted from your swipe card! (At the end, return your swipe card @ front desk and get balance back)
We were really there for the GELATOs, had a great range of that. The food court in itself is big – well big in variety and cuisines!!

DSC02326DSC02315
(Spoon foodcourt @ CR2 Nariman Point )

DSC02317DSC02320
(Neha and Pooja enjoying their ice-creams)

The INOX cinemas here are awesome!! Very posh and classy. And service was 5 star – during the interval, attendants were around to take orders for snacks/drinks, we ordered a pizza and drink, they were delivered to us – did not have get up from the seat at all (only if they could have something similar for the bathroom!!)
Don 2 was much better than Don 1, however since I am not a great fan of SRK, did not enjoy it that much – kids on the other hand had a great time.

By the time we got out, it was close to 4 pm, much cooler than when we went in. Headed to Gateway of India.
DSC02331 DSC02351

DSC02353
(look we are bigger than gateway of india!!)

Gateway of India was crowded, lots of people around, however with the afternoon cool weather, it was very pleasant.

DSC02330

DSC02356
(Neha and Pooja managed to find someone selling toys to make bubbles, time to play)

Had to of course have a horse carriage ride, however it was a very short ride – got totally ripped off!!

  DSC02362DSC02361
(horse driven carriage, kids ready for the ride)

Next stop was Colaba Causeway, just browsing thru all the street stalls – picked up 2 shawls for the kids, it was getting a bit windy.
This was one place where we did find some XMAS spirit …
DSC02364
(on Colaba causeway – one place where we did fine some real XMAS deco)

Kids were now getting tired – complaining of tired legs, another big problem – Neha needed to go to the loo quick, spotted a McDonalds close by, Light bulbgreat can feed Pooja there and Neha can go to the loo Smile, unfortunately life isn’t always that easy! The toilet in McDonalds was broken and the other in the mall attached was in a shocking condition – Neha so far had been able to adjust to bad toilets, however this must have been real bad, she came out crying and almost threw up… needed to find something quick. Bought Pooja’s nuggets and out we went looking for a good place to eat (they would hopefully have a good washroom) – spotted Delhi Darbar, looked ok so went in, Neha headed straight to the bathrooms – she came out smiling after a couple of minutes – thank god, now I could order some food!
Food was nice (ordered Chinese), also ordered “Duddi ka halwa” to try out, green in colour and tastes damn good. Pooja avoided it, however Neha joined us and dug in – very tasty

DSC02369
(Neha digging into “duddi ka halwa” @ Delhi Darbar – Colaba causeway)

Before leaving Delhi Dabar, had to ensure kids had visited the washrooms – empty those tanks!

Next stop – an old favourite @ Nariman Point – Ruby Tuesday (next to INOX cinemas), they have good Chocolate desserts – and I also wanted to have a kingfisher (Delhi Darbar had no liquor).
DSC02377

Ordered a Tall Cake for the kids and Nita and I had a strawberry cheesecake – not forgetting my Kingfisher – my first beer in over a week, felt sooooo good – nice chilled Kingfisher!

 DSC02374DSC02375
(Chocolate Tall Cake @ Ruby Tuesday – Kids loved it)

Took a walk from there to Marine Drive, had to take a walk on the famous Mumbai Golden Necklace. Weather was slightly cool – the shawls we had bought @ Colaba came in good use here. Lots of people taking a stroll and chilling about.
DSC02381DSC02388
(@ marine drive – (golden necklace), kids had to buy some night glow in the dark stuff from street sellers!)

It was getting close to 10 pm, got a taxi back to Gulistan and hit the sack! We all had a good long day first day in Mumbai.

Day 24, Navsari to Mumbai 25th Dec

XMAS day in Navsari, very different to XMAS in Brisbane. Nothing to differentiate today from any other day – except it was my last day in Navsari today – going to Mumbai this afternoon.
Made my last round to the local bakery for some pau, was sure going to miss this routine.

Today we were invited to lunch at Nita’s Vinod kaka’s place. He had given us a great time on our last visit – 5 years back. Kids were all dressed in the indian kurtis, why not, when in India, be Indian!

DSC02266
(Girls heading to Vinod kaka’s place for lunch – in their Kurtis)

DSC02274
(Lunch time @ Vinod kaka’s place)

Lunch was great – had Chicken cooked in a special Chicken 65 masala, very yum! Was great having lunch with the entire family.
Finished off by 2, had to be off to Mumbai @ 2:30 pm.

Parimal and his cousin dropped us off on their bikes – very cool experience indeed (second for Neha and me, however first for Nita and Pooja).

DSC02279DSC02278
(our ride back home to Kalyan Bhavan)

Once home, Parimal took Neha and Pooja together for another round on the bike – I was still waiting for my suit, we had to kill time somehow!

DSC02281
(bike ride time – Neha and Pooja with Parimal)

My suit did arrive around 2:30pm, was a great fit – was very impressed that they managed to complete, my shirt, pants and suit in under 24 hours!

Whilst waiting, said farewell to Arvind kaka and Pushpa kaki, they had been immensely helpful to us in Navsari and having them around here gave me a great sense of comfort – Nita will be alone with kids for around a week!
Arvind kaka was moving out today into his new flat.

Our car and driver arrived soon after, by the time we all got into the car, and off, it was close to 3pm. Felt sad locking up the place, knowing I will not be seeing this place again for a few years atleast, our Navsari home had been very good to us – thanks Kalyan Bhavan!!

Stopped over in Valsad to meet Nita’s Padmani foi and fua. We had stayed with them on our first visit to India in ‘98, they had then shown us around lots. Meeting Henish and Parash  again after all those years brought back great memories, they were so little when I had seen them last, now they were both adults!!

Back on the road again, a short distance away in VIPA, very quick stop @ McDonalds – had to feed Neha and Pooja with Nuggets & fries.

DSC02292
(passed a truck overflowing with people, notice the kid between the yellow shirted guys leg!!)

Around 6:30 pm, we stopped over @ Atiti Hotel for Dinner, apparently most travellers stop here for a break.

Approx 9 pm we reached the outskirts of Mumbai, so far it had taken us 6 hours to get there, however the worst traffic was yet to come. It took us a further 2 hours to reach Mumbai Central!! Along the way we used the new toll bridge going across sea, connecting North Mumbai to WORLI, a very impressive structure

DSC02300
(New toll bridge connecting North Mumbai to WORLI)

Reached Gulistan around 11 pm, was surprised to see all the same faces I had seen 5 years back! Room was all booked – thanks to Chetan. We stayed up for a while – kids were all fresh, they had slept through in the car and were now wide awake. Nita soon nodded off, kids and I were up till 1 am then we hit the sack!

Day 21–23, Navsari & Surat Dec 22nd – 24th

No need to repeat the same, we are in Navsari this week – the same relax, eat, sleep, some shopping in between and another trip to Surat.

Today was running around organising last minute things for the house and stocking up on some essentials – need to make it a bit easy for Nita and kids from 1st Jan without me, tomorrow we are all off to Mumbai for 6 nights, I then return back to Brisbane on the 1st and Nita and kids will be back in Navsari on the same day.

Whilst in Mota bazaar today, we came across “Hare Bole” – another great place for some awesome patties and good quality sweets.

Going thru the bazaar, I was browsing in a menswear store, somehow ended up ordering a suit, pants and shirt – all tailored made to measure – and the amazing bit, they will have it ready for me by 1pm tomorrow!! The order was placed at 7pm, have no idea how they will get this all tailored in under 24 hours?? Will find out tomorrow.

Dinner was at Ramanand – Nita and I had chaat varieties, they just taste soo gooood. Kids were into the Paneer Butter masala. My last dinner in Navsari for this trip.Sad smile

Back home, it was packup time for me, felt kinda sad, knowing this was my last night in Navsari. Amazing it was, I had stayed 11 nights here, had initially thought that it was a bit too much, however I could easily have doubled that and still had a good time!! The kids had really got attached to the place and loving it – am glad they are staying some more – will be lots of fun with dada dadi and Dilesh kaka’s family all here very soon – damn work commitments, would have been sooooo good to be here with them all!

Day 20, Surat, 21st Dec

Morning routine is same – get fresh buns (they call it “PAU”) from the local bakery. Having them with butter toasted on tava with eggs – nice start to the day!

Today we had hired the car again for Surat, had asked to be picked up @ 9:30, however as luck had it, I had a call from work with another problem, by the time that was resolved I was already running behind schedule. Manish (our driver from Monday’s Surat trip) arrived again, he was really good – no issues with the delay, it worked out well for him as well, he had a couple of things to do before heading out.

By the time we left, it was just past 10:30, today the traffic was better – within 5 minutes we were out of Navsari.
Getting into Surat was a crazy affair, traffic was horrendous, mainly caused by all the road works happening on the entrance to the city. Roads that are complete are very good, Surat roads are very wide, close to 3 – 4 lanes on each side, however the side lanes are always blocked by street stalls etc,…

DSC02208
(getting into Surat)

Headed to the Lal-Gate area, lots of shops lined up on both sides – this is the older Surat.

DSC02211DSC02209
(lal-gate area Surat, two cops were chatting – very CHILAXED not doing much work, got a bit worried when they saw me taking a pic of them)

Sonica was the first stop, Nita was awed by a very nice dress in the front window until she queried the price – it was over 2 lakhs!!! ….. time to move on.

DSC02212
(Surat has better roads than Delhi – in my opinion)

It was already 1 pm and kids were promised McDonalds, so off to Bhatar Rd for their treat. Whilst there we also had the spicy variety – this is something that should be made available back home.

Visited a couple of malls close by, finally got a few good shirts – my first bit of shopping in India!! woohoo!

For Dinner we wanted to eat at Sigdi – a non-veg place half way between Surat and Navsari. Got out of Surat just past 7, also picked up more McDonalds takeaway for kids. Took us around 20 minutes to reach Sigdi, it is one of about 5 restaurants around there that specialise in Non-veg cuisine.
Sigdi had a great atmosphere, bamboo dhaba’s, candlelight dinner, and a big plus – kids play area, Neha and Pooja had already eaten in the car – it was straight to the play area for them.

(Sigdi non-veg place between Surat and Navsari, outdoor eating areas)

DSC02227
(Sigdi Kitchen)
DSC02218DSC02216
(Sigdi kids play area)

Ordered a Chicken fire(entree) and Chicken Hyderabady with chappatis – food was very very good here.  Was sooo much food, could not finish it all – waiters were worried if we did not like it – locals here have a massive appetite, we can not keep up them.
To finish off, had to have the sweet Paan! Nita had one and was very enjoyable.

Reached Navsari around 10pm, had thought it was going to be a short trip to Surat, however turned out to be a long one.

Day 19, Navsari 20th Dec

Today was local shopping for Navsari home, Nita needed to buy essentials to setup the kitchen. Pushpa kaki was a massive massive help in this. She took Nita to a grocer near our place where the essentials were easily picked up – kataur, oil, etc….. (I cannot remember what else was bought there).

All along kids were home with Megha (house maid) and they also had mastered using Nita’s phone, whenever we left them home, the phone was always with them. They were having a great time staying home, less walking, we called each other every 20 – 30 minutes.

DSC02154
(Neha & Pooja, relaxing at home)

DSC02162
(Nita with Pushpa kaki and Arvind kaka)

Next I wanted Nita to view Arvind kaka’s new flat – it was brilliantly furnished/finished!
Rather than describe the flat, I shall let the pictures do the talking – once you are inside the flat, it really does not feel like India.

DSC02163DSC02166DSC02171DSC02168

Simply an amazing effort by Arvind kaka, very impressed.

Arvind kaka then took us on a tour of the essentials we needed to know in Navsari for cooking, goat, chicken and fish markets, also I needed to find a foreign exchange, he knew of a Khatri who had a business in that.
On the way there, we passed a famous Lassi place, kaka is very fond of – had to have a pit stop there and try one of those famous lassi’s

DSC02178DSC02177
(Nita and Arvind kaka enjoying the Lassi)

Lunch was at Arvind kaka’s place. This was the first home cooked meal since we started our holidays – it tasted so nice and a big plus, It was the kids favourite (“ghos’t”), they really enjoyed it.

Afternoon was again more home shopping – this time kitchen utensils “Barrtan”.
DSC02181
(heading to the bazaar)

Pushpa kaki took us to a great place, which did not look like much, however had the best stuff. The place really looked like a crap store with piles of kitchen utensils in no order, however there was some order to it which they understood and were quickly able to pull out things Nita and kaki asked for.

DSC02183DSC02190
(shopping for kitchen pots and utensils!!)

DSC02192
(An interesting sign right across the kitchen store we were in, I like how they have spelt Lingerie, but the best is instead of “Readymade Blouse”, they have “Redmaid Blows”!! what sort of blows are we talking about!!!! May need to visit them)

We were at the kitchen store for over an hour. Finally finished off and headed to have a snack – mama ni patties @ a store called Bhikabhai (i think), great patties they had there.

More hunting at other stores in the bazaar for a couple of remaining utensils.

DSC02197

DSC02199DSC02200
(a wooden kitchenware store, even had wooden tongs!)

DSC02201
(Another interesting sign/name)

Finally back at home for me atleast, Nita was off again with Pushpa kaki to get the veges to make masalo, to make it easy, the people selling the stuff were more than happy to do the peeling etc for an additional 10/rs!! Made Nita’s life a whole lot easier.

For dinner we headed to Zaika restaurant, one of a handful of restaurants specialising in NON Veg cuisine. Food was excellent. Ordered Lollypop Chicken again – Pooja loved that, Tikka kebabs, and for mains I took the waiters advise and settled on Chicken Chingari, which was really good.

What a day of running around it was , really owe it to Pushpa Kaki and Arvind kaka for all the time they spent showing us around and assisting us. Big thanks to them! And a big thanks for the home cooked lunch.

Day 18 Surat, 19th Dec

Today we were visiting Surat, had hired a car to take us there. We left @ 10:30, however getting out of Navsari took us close to 30 minutes, some crazy traffic on the main roads. Finally out of Navsari, highway was nothing flash, the standard two way single lane road.

DSC02124DSC02125
(passing a herd of cows on the way to Surat)

By the time we got into Surat, it was close to 12:30, headed to Sugar n Spice for lunch(recommended by Arvind kaka). Not a bad place for lunch – however it was there desserts that were awesome

DSC02134
(Nita and Neha getting into the sizzling brownie)

Next stop was saree, salwar shopping for Nita, driver took us to a nice place called Asho Palo. Nita was able to pick up some pieces there, however it was the mess we created that I felt like … sorry, Nita got to view soo many pieces, the guy just kept opening them and discarding them on the floor. Another poor soul was having to pack all the discarded stock back.

DSC02143 DSC02145
(Neha and Pooja entertaining themselves, check out the open dresses on the floor, someone has to put them back)

Following that, we headed to another open shopping area, were mainly looking for kids stuff, finally managed to find some – needed to keep the kids happy.

DSC02147DSC02148
(Surat Central Mall)

Last stop was at Surat Central Mall, quite a big mall. Headed straight to the food court, variety was vast – settled for a mix of cuisines.

DSC02149
(Pooja in the food court, where is my food?)

Post dinner, had a quick look around the place and it was time to head back.
On the way back out of Surat, stopped at a McDonalds – Pooja had not eaten much – got her some Nuggets and Fries, and boy was that needed!! She gobbled the Nuggets easily. She had always avoided Nuggets in Oz and here she was loving it.

Drive back was without incident.

Day 17, Navsari, 18th Dec

Another lazy morning in Navsari, Nita joined me for the morning bakery run – the normal fresh buns.

Nothing much was done during the day, after all Navsari is all about taking it easy, especially on Sundays – nothing is open.

Today was also Navsari Mohatsav – Nita headed there with Neha around 2pm – myself and Pooja stayed home, a good move indeed! Nita was back after the interval, apparently it was a very very boring mohatsav – Brisbane mohatsav are sooooooooo much better.

DSC02097
(Neha and Nita ready to head off to Mohatsav)

DSC02107DSC02104
(Sunday @ Navsari bazaar – more cows then people, me and Pooja on the way home after dropping off Neha and Nita @ Mohatsav)

That evening we wanted to eat some NON-VEG, headed to Sheetal restaurant, on the outskirts of Navsari, Pooja must have been over VEG, she really got into the lollypop chicken. Was a good meal overall.

Got back home and had the best ice-cream we have ever had (had earlier bought 2 packs of AMUL Cookies & Cream and a Butterscotch near our home), it really is the best ice-cream I have ever tasted. Definitely recommend this to everyone.

Neha and I then headed off to watch Mission Impossible 4 @ Laxmi theatres. What an experience it was. Sundays must be the busiest day for being @ the movies. It was packed and lots of action – lots of noise in the lower level of the cinema, must have been filled with crazy idiots, who kept cheering and whistling at every scene. Soon lots of yelling started, other people had complained and now a colourful verbal fight had erupted, took a couple of attendants with lots of whistle blowing to get this under control. All along Neha could not understand what the yelling was all about – to a point I also did not understand! Another surprise was the movie was dubbed in HINDI, really a different experience, the effect is soooooo watered down, may need to see this again in its original form.
Every scene with sexy girls – generated more whistles and horrays from the crowd!! The biggest cheers were however reserved for when Anil Kapoor appeared on the screen, whole crowd went crazy – totally a different experience.
Show finished around midnight, took us a while to find an Auto – was lucky to find and one this late.

Day 16, Navsar, 17th Dec

Night was a bit sleepless, Nita was vomiting, with lots of stomach cramps.

Got awakened around 7:30 am by some guy beeping his horn continuously, luckily got up too see what the fuss was all about from the upper balcony – it was the garbage truck making the rounds. Had to run down quickly and get the garbage from the prior day to the “Kachra wala”.

Nita was now feeling like sh*t, she was also having the runs – was feeling very weak. Took her to the local GP (Sanjay Bodalia), got a shot, and tablets, GPs here are so well stocked with medications – this guy had all the stuff right there, no need to go the pharmacy with prescriptions!

Back home, it was a day of mainly resting – kids were watching TV, Nita was sleeping, and I was updating my blog…. there was nothing else to do. Pooja was still having the runs, no improvement yet.

Nothing fancy that evening – a couple of Pizza’s from US Pizza, one was a Paneer Masala Pizza, the other the standard kids simply cheese.

All had an early night, 50% of the family were sick! Hopefully tomorrow is better.

Day 15, Navsari 16th Dec

First morning in Navsari, in the new Kalyan Bhuvan, felt good. Nita wanted to eat some desi biscuits – walked down to local shops, literally down the street and picked up some “Parya Biscuits” and my favourite – Parle G.

Around 9 am, the maid organised by our driver arrived – Mehga. Got her starting in removing all the dust from around the house – lots of dust in Navsari and regular cleaning is definitely required. Also found out that we were missing a few of the essential cleaning materials, had a list ready for afternoon shopping.

Nickesh (my cousin from US) visited later on – the last time we met was in 1985. He was here with his family and today was his last day. Really good to catch up with him.

Arvind kaka and Vinod kaka were also in town – they gave me some great pointers on where too buy everyday stuff from. Apparently fresh Paturi, Kahman and Jalebi were available every morning near our place – also a bakery around the corner had fresh soft bread rolls.

Lunch tiffen arrived – it was Binda, Rice & Dahl today, girls had no problems with the rice.

Pooja was still a bit sick – loose motion continued. We decided to leave the kids home with Megha who was home till 4 pm. Allowed us to quickly cover mota bazaar.

Later on that evening Nickesh and family did visit us. Finally met his family! Little Sanya is soo cute, she had a great time with Pooja’s Mickey toys.
Hopefully would be seeing them soon in Australia for Nick Morris’s wedding!

DSC02094DSC02092
(Cousins, Neha with Heneal kaki and cousin Sanya)

After dinner, decided to head to the movies – saw Ladies vs Ricky Bahl @ the Jahinger theatre – it was recently renovated and did look like it. Movie was good – more of a timepass. Finished close to midnight, had to wait around 5 – 10 before we got an auto.

Still had NOT worked out how the rubbish was disposed off here, all the rubbish from the day had been stacked in an empty carton, tomorrows mission – find out where to dispose of home garbage.
